![]() 2 HAIKU | ![]() 02/01/05 This is an open letter to the children of Abraham. Okay I know I'm goyish and an infidel, hell I'm even from the left coast of America but stil... You Abrahamites have a family fight going. We can see since Sarah conceived the rift began, or so we're told. By the time Abraham got to the sacrificial alter the trend had been set. You don't even agree which child he dragged up the hill to sacrifice. It is the same voice from the clouds isn't it? Ultimately do you think you're speaking to the same God?
Believe it or not some of the goyish and infidels were raise right, realize that family business is best handled in-house. However it's spilled out of your houses, onto the street and around the world. Maybe it started with sticks and stones but now it's nukes and bio's. Terror is going to need another R to keep up with you. Even if we stay in this century you can see it's hard to see who cast the first stone, especially since when it gets down to it you don't respect anyone not in your family. Do you realize that you are a fraction of the global population fighting over claim to a piece of land that doesn't have clean title even byconservative archeology?
It may be unrealistic but what if the world backed away, like friends that came to the family barbeque when the crazy uncles got into it. Of course we all jumped in to pull you apart but usually innocent bystanders get caught up and hurt. There isn't an under estimation of the effect of nations that have taken sides and tried to stabilize the situation with money and weapons, the thinking they could contain the conflict and reap benefits. Now there is some stupidity. You're fighting over whose back yard it is. Affecting the whole human village. What if all the money dried up, all the business of trying to lay small bandages on the large wounds you have created stopped flowing. If all the toys of war were scooped up and out of your way what would happen? Wait, we don't want to hear which son threw the first stone, you're going to have to settle it on your own.
Israeli friends of mine say they want to settle it once and for all, Palestinians the same. I fear that the old city would be glowing in the dark by the time you were through but maybe you should have your chance. The primary reason I have this perspective is that I have close friends from both sides of your family. You are one family. The entire globe flinches when the west bank or Gaza hit the news daily, markets fluctuate deals are made and broken on the body counts. It's a string of tragedy on both sides. We the infidels and goyiom can only watch in horror. Some pretend to be on a side, cries for justice from polar perspectives. This small bit of land, fought over and watched by the entire world. Anthropologists say the wall in the old city is older than the tribes of Abraham I know you may not want to hear that, it would spoil your fighting to the death for something that wasn't yours since the begining.
If by now you haven't dismissed this goyish infidel realize it's from the heart, in a desire that this conflict, centuries longer than my little life, would take a new direction in our lifetimes. When Lewis and Clark came to my homeland with new names and political formats your family squabble was already entrenched in the fabric of the human race.
Instead of cringing when we find out from the headlines what has happened between the children of Abraham we if we were inspired; "if they could work it out what are we fighting about?" "Look all faiths gathering in the holy city under an air of peace, inspiration and faith!" It would be a fine break from constant news of death in the holy land. When you do find a solution it will be the whole human family not just a few tribes that would reap the benefits of a lasting peace.
