To the attention whores out there masquerading as 'undecided' voters in America: find a new pick up line.
Seriously, I can understand overwhelming indecision because the choices are so inviting, but this is like fear factor, just take a bite already!
Check the box or abstain. You can't believe that at the last moment a lie detector test is going to be administered all around. In Oregon I'm done on sat. when my ballot arrives in the mail.
It doesn't matter who/what you vote for it's done, count 'em up. We should limit this whole thing to 90 days max; cap all funds, a debate in each state. Plus you really have to answer a question when asked; if you have already repeated a certain phrase more than 5 times there is a duct tape to the mouth penalty.
We should institute 'none of the above' option. I've heard dissatisfaction from all wings of political thought, a unifying feeling that they are voting against a candidate rather than for their candidate. In the event noneOFtheAbove won a qualifying percentage than we send them back. It's not like this democracy we are touting is this well-oiled machine able to translate the desires of the citizens of America into actions and representatives that execute them.
If there is the feared video poker voter machine breakdowns, voter irregularities and it gets decided like a game show again we will have to get drastic. My favorite idea is to only allow ONLY 9 year olds to vote, vest in them the independence to query the candidates and to allow them to guide us. Have you been questioned by a nine year old recently?
It's easy though less fun anymore to dog pile blame on the big party establishment, big business, the cronies system. Still its about us people, even if you are one of the afore mentioned you know individual opinion matters, more and more as they get piled on each other. Here we live the luxuries independence but scatter when asked to exercise it a small percentage respond.
There is no reason we shouldn't have a higher turn out rate than, Afghanistan, is there? It should be tied to holding a drivers license, hunting license, anything you need from the government. Discounts from Wal-Mart for long-term voters, little hash marks punks can sew badly on their clothing, hip hop chains with the ballot in silver. The system of government here before the European conquest was one of all in the circle say your piece. Councils of elders then met with this consensus and figured it out. Of course tax codes were easier and the health care system focused on preventative instead of curative approaches.
It's like a limb here on the continent this democracy. Do we just cut it off? No, most will go to all extents, grafting, splicing, and doses of antibiotics just to save it. All manners of the therapy, prosthetics all to prove it's here. We're a young country; we need to grow up and walk our talk or someone might repossess our tongues
